Is it time for Radio Free Peoria to go on the air?

I briefly experimented with Blog Talk Radio. I had a really bad cell phone connection at the time, and doing the show ate through my minutes. Also, service was spotty. I’m thinking of giving it a try again, though, and using this site as the “portal” for it. I’d probably call it “Radio Free Peoria” and open it up to all the dis-enfranchised losers who cannot win at the polls.

Well, crap. I won’t be doing anything with Blog Talk Radio. Any feature they they offer that is worth a damn is not put up behind a paywall. It’s $39 a month for even the most basic feature you need to do this right. So, forget it for now. I’ll just do YouTube  if I need to.

Miss CBS Radio News on Peoria radio stations?

I’m no fan of Apple products (see this blog) but one advantage to having an iPod is that you can stream CBS Radio News programs. You used to be able to listen to CBS Radio News on WMBD before is decided to prostitute almost it’s entire lineline to the right wing. And you can listen to CBS Radio News on yoru computer by going to Radio.com.

I have never heard of this program before, and I couldn’t really find anything online about it. Give it a listen and tell me what you think.

The original WIRL Lives … on Website shock full of memories

I love this site. It’s shock full of pictures, sound checks, promotions and jingles from the original 1290 WIRL. It even includes the famous Car Star soundbite. Love it.

People do not realize it, but before there was FM, there was actual music on AM, and it was cool. WIRL was a powerhouse back int eh day, with WIRL arranging the first rock concerts in the area. I grew up listening to WIRL (before it became all sports, then all country). I listen to it now onlu to get the Cubs on the radio.

The Lone Ranger: Crooked Banker and Sheriff

I can’t vouch for the quality of this one, but I felt the need to give listeners a treat:

lone.1937.05.10_Crooked_Banker_and_Sheriff.m3u

It originally aired on May 10, 1937.

Via Free Radio Shows.

Don’t expect anything as dark as a Gunsmoke episode. This is kiddie fare.

Dimension X: Heinlein’s ‘Requiem’

Usually, I try to post clips of program sin the order in which they were broadcast. Forgive me for doing it differently with these Dimension X programs. I am a huge fan of Robert A. Heinlein, so I am cherry picking episodes that are based on his stories. Last time around, I picked “Destination: Moon.” This time, I chose “Requiem,” Heinlein’s story of businessman D.D. Herriman, who makes a fateful trip to the Moon.
